What Is Domain Name Parking

ArticlesOften wondered what 'Domain Name Parking' is all about? This short article will explain what it is.

You may have come across domain name registrars or whois information with details for that domain name has been parked. When a domain name is parked it will be registered with InterNIC and will be reserved through them until needed. Once parked the owner can then keep the domain name until needed with no hosting being required. No website will not be needed to keep a parked domain name. This means they can keep the domain name for a length of time without paying any monthly fees for hosting, until they need to, that's one advantage.

How To Reserve/Park A Domain Name

This is very simple to do when purchasing a new domain name. Once purchased do not place any name servers (e.g. - dns1.mywebhost.com) to point the domain name to a web host server. Instead the registrar will by default place it a parked. It's that simple.

When you decide to use the domain name with a website then just point the domain name to the web host server which they will supply with other information by email.
